Extending a Member's Paid Plan to a Specific Date

Memberstack syncs paid plan billing lifecycles directly with Stripe, which means there is no manual calendar expiration date picker inside the Memberstack dashboard. How you extend a member's access depends on whether they are on a recurring subscription or a one-time payment.

Section A: Recurring Subscriptions (Stripe Trial Extension)

To give an existing subscriber extra time without charging them, extend their trial period in Stripe:

Step 1: In your Memberstack dashboard, click Members and select the member.
Step 2: In the member details pane, click the 'View in Stripe' link at the bottom (or log in directly to Stripe and search for their email under Customers).
Step 3: Under the Subscriptions section in Stripe, click the active subscription and select Update subscription.
Step 4: Locate the 'Free trial days' section and click on 'Add trial days' or extend the existing trial days to your chosen calendar date.
Step 5: Save your changes.

How it behaves:

The member retains uninterrupted access to their gated content in Memberstack. Stripe will not charge their payment method until the new date arrives.
Note: Adding or extending a trial shifts the subscription's billing anchor. The member's subsequent recurring renewal dates will be calculated from this new date forward.

Section B: One-Time Paid Plans (Auxiliary Free Plan)

One-time payment expiration lengths (such as 30 days or 1 year) are set globally at the price level and cannot be customized for individual members. To extend access for a specific member past their expiration date:

Step 1: In Memberstack, go to Plans and create an internal Free Plan.
Step 2: Configure this free plan to grant access to the exact same gated content or pages as your paid one-time plan.
Step 3: Open the member's profile in the Members tab and manually attach this free plan.

How it behaves:

When the member's paid one-time plan reaches its expiration date and expires, the secondary free plan will keep their access active. Once the extended courtesy period has concluded, open their profile and manually remove the free plan.
