Managing Member Activity Notifications (Slack & Email)

Memberstack Team
  • Updated

Memberstack can notify your team whenever someone signs up or starts a paid plan in your app, so you can celebrate new members and keep an eye on growth without watching the dashboard. You can get these notifications in Slack (shared with your whole team) and/or by email (personal to each teammate), and you can turn each on or off anytime.

All of these settings live in one place: from your dashboard, open Settings → Notifications.

Slack Notifications

Slack notifications post member activity to one channel that your whole team can see.

Before you start: you need to connect a Slack workspace. On the Notifications page, find the Slack Notifications card and click Add to Slack, then choose the channel you want notifications to post to. (You only do this once per app.)

To enable or disable specific notifications: once Slack is connected, you'll see a switch for each type.

Toggle them on or off — changes save automatically.
New member signup — posts when someone creates an account.
New paid signup — posts when a member starts a paid plan.

Good to Know:

Notifications go to the single channel you picked, for everyone in it.
During a busy spell, Memberstack groups activity into a short summary (e.g., "12 new members") instead of sending a separate message for every signup.

Need to switch channels? Use Change channel. To stop all Slack notifications, click Disconnect.

Email notifications

Email notifications are personal — each teammate chooses their own, and they're off by default. Turning yours on won't affect anyone else.

Where to find them: on the same Settings → Notifications page, look for the "Email me about member activity" card.

To enable or disable: flip the switch for each type. Changes save automatically.

New member signup — email me when someone creates an account.
New paid signup — email me when a member starts a paid plan.
Other emails on this page: you can also opt into the weekly roundup (a once-a-week summary of new members) and, if you use commenting, the daily comment summary. Toggle those and click Save.

Good to know:

To avoid flooding your inbox, member-activity emails are batched — you'll get at most one email per minute, as a single message ("Jane just signed up") or a short summary ("12 new members + 3 paid signups").

These emails cover your live members only — signups in Test Mode won't send email.

Emails come from Memberstack (notification@member-notifications.com).

To unsubscribe: click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any notification email, or simply switch the toggles off in Settings → Notifications.

Not receiving notifications?

A few common things to check:

Testing with a test-mode member? Email notifications only cover live members, test-mode signups won't email you. Switch out of Test Mode (or have someone sign up on your live site) to see them.

Is the setting actually on? Email notifications are off by default, and each teammate sets their own.

Open Settings → Notifications and confirm your switches are enabled.

For Slack: make sure the workspace is still connected and pointed at the right channel (Add to Slack / Change channel). If a teammate accidentally disconnected it, notifications stop for everyone.

Give it a minute, then check spam. Emails are batched, so allow up to a minute after a signup. If it still hasn't arrived, check your spam/Promotions folder and add notification@member-notifications.com to your contacts.

Still stuck? Reach out to support and let us know your app name and app id and roughly when the signup happened.
