How to migrate from Webflow membership to Memberstack while maintaining secure video delivery and scaling beyond 20k users? Answered

Hi,

Duncan from Memberstack, We have an existing Live site (training platform) with thousands of members. We are currently using Webflow membrship platform but are looking to migrate to Memberstack. Specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • A functional Stripe integration for customers in jurisdictions where SCA is the norm (Europe, India being the two major ones) . [Hopefully we would have native Razorpay integration also]
  • An ability to securely serve our video content (hundreds of videos) - this was one primary reason holding us back from Memberstack, but one we believe has been fixed now (Kindly confirm if we can serve our videos securely via Webflow CMS Collections Template)
  • An ability to scale beyond the 20k User limit - this one is holding us back right now, and is the primary driver to seek a solution like Memberstack.

I do have some questions -

  • Our mentors are some of the most recognizable names in their fields. We are hoping we would be able to use Memberstack to scale to millions of members - kindly confirm if our assumptions are grounded in reality.
  • Would it possible to create SECURE personalised dashboards for every member - current solutions that we looked at using Memberstack all use Webflow CMS, which due to their inherent capacity issues won't scale to the kind of memberships that we are looking at. I really hope we can find a solution which works.
  • Can we use our existing templates and setup and implement Memberstack? We would ideally need interoperability with Wized and a DB like Xano (for powering other products, like apps). Do you have any recommendations?
  • We are currently hosted on E-Commerce Plus plan of Webflow, going forward with transition to Memberstack, which Webflow plan do you recommend. Can we work with one of the CMS plans? This is important because Webflow currently offers its Localization features only on CMS plans and we would like to use (ideally native) localization.
  • Can we get help from someone within your team to transition to Memberstack as we would like to minimize disruption and churn for existing members?

Thanks for your patience going through that long message. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

    • Yes to SCA, but no to Razorpay. We only integrate with Stripe.
    • Memberstack is only able to authenticate/gate content in the frontend.
    1. Hidden Content - Memberstack “hides” parts of your website using Javascript and CSS in the front end. 99.9% of web goers will have no idea how to access hidden content on your site. However, we recommend that you DO NOT upload sensitive personal information directly Webflow or any website gated by Memberstack. Learn more about Gated Content
    • No problem at all! We have users with millions of members.
    • See above.
    • What should be possible in each dashboard? A version of this is possible if you use Memberstack to store the user data.
    • Yup!
    • CMS plan is fine
    • Yes, if you decide to migrate we are happy to help

Thanks for the quick response. A few clarifications please:

    1. Can we use the Hosted Content option in MS to securely serve hundreds of Videos through CMS Collections Template option? (the video links change dynamically). Any limitations that we should be aware of ?
    2. Kindly expand on number 5 (dashboard) above.
    3. Can we make use of APIs to seamlessly integrate Razorpay ourselves?
    4. How do we go about number 8?

    Thanks.

    1. Tyler Bell Is it okay to use hosted content with hundreds of links? d yashovardhan I’m worried you may run into some usability issues if not technical ones.
    2. Sure! So expand on my question I’ll ask: If you provide me with a short list of features available to members on their unique dashboards I can provide a more detailed answer. I’ll confirm if it’s possible, and if so send over some links to get you started.
    3. Yes, but I don’t usually recommend it. Memberstack is really intended to be used with Stripe and you may run into issue.
    4. You can submit a support request here and then we’ll find someone on the team who is able to help. https://docs.memberstack.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

    1. I was thinking of using the hosted content in a CMS collections template for course Episodes. Each episode page would only have one video url (within hosted content), but they get populated dynamically. Hope this would be possible
    2. a. Transaction History and ability to manage their subscriptions b. Activity history (e.g. course completed, last watched etc.) and c. Analytic reports from b.
    3. Noted. We just hope Stripe decides to integrate Net Banking and UPI soon!
    4. Noted, and thanks.

    1. WD - if I were you I would host and manage all of the videos directly inside of Webflow. And then add as much front-end code as you can to disable access for people without permission. This will be much easier to manage. And just about as secure.
    2. Great! All of this can be managed in Memberstack without needing to give each member their own CMS page. You’ll need to us JSON or custom fields to track progress, front-end code to generate the activity reports, and the Stripe billing portal to view past subscription. https://docs.memberstack.com/hc/en-us/articles/7389627062299-Custom-Fields-vs-Metadata-vs-JSON and https://docs.memberstack.com/hc/en-us/articles/7782712032539-Stripe-Customer-Portal
    3. We will see!
    4. No problem 👍
