How to set up user login and profile editing in Webflow with CMS fields for athlete recruiting platform?

Hello, I’m sharing my project link below, and a specific page as well.
This is for an athlete recruiting company. (Athlete signs up, pays. Get his profile noticed)

Ultimately we need help creating a way for:

  • User to login and update their profile
  • The profile is a bunch of CMS fields that will be displayed on a player page. (See example below)
  • Those CMS fields are already created

There just needs to be a way to get them to login, and update it somehow. I have never done a project that involves this before.

I have created the memberstack example and have it working like this:

(PLAYER) USER SIGNS UP > Athlete CMS ITEM created (via zapier)

This isn’t something I enjoy.

My client will pay up to $500 to get this setup.

Thank you.

Hey there Brad Poirier Sounds like the Zapier isn't doing the trick for you.

I'd like to quote a comment by Hugh Laverty on a similar question someone had almost a year ago. Which you can find here for better context.

I'd strongly recommend using Memberstack over Webflow. I've tried both on projects in the past, and have lived through the nightmare that is incorrect syncing due to Zapier erroring/glitching. Due to the lag that sometimes happens with Zapier changing Webflow stuff, some users submit changes 5 times because they don't see it changing instantly. Memberstack does.

I'd recommend building a custom profile page in Webflow with all the forms needed to modify their profile info, and simply map that to Memberstack using the ms-data-members attributes. That way you can use Memberstack as your Single Source of Truth. Then create a Zap (or Integromat) to trigger on the Memberstack Update Profile webhook, and carry any changes through to their Webflow CMS Item. Remember, you'll need to store their Webflow CMS ID in Memberstack upon signup for this to work correctly, and you may need to build a lookup step to find their ID prior to the Webflow step.

Hope this gives you more idea as to how to proceed forward with what you have already built. Let me know if the above instructions on setting up user sign up via memberstack helps you through, if not, i'd be happy to revisit it myself for you.

    Cheers.

    Thanks Niket

    1) Are you familiar with this yourself? I'm happy to pay you/someone else like $100 to just coach me through this for an hour or less. This feels straightforward just need to learn

    2) I would be OK with using MS only for this, but the main thing is:

    • The athlete profile needs to be public, even when not logged in.
    • The athlete profile needs to be updated only by the athlete that's logged in.

This is probably standard, I just need to make sure it will work that way.
If so, could you give me a one on one walkthrough if you have the time, again happy to pay!

    Thank you!

Hey Brad 👋 I want to be fully transparent and let you know that Memberstack was not built with public profiles in mind. It's technically possible, but it requires 3rd party tools and custom code. We have a template here to demonstrate what's possible and how to do it, but it's not a 1,2,3 simple process.
