How to set up pre-launch subscriptions with reservation fees and pre-account purchases? Answered

Hi guys!

I was wondering if it's possible to allow customers to choose a future start date to their subscriptions and then pay a reservation fee to hold their place in the queue? They should only pay for the subscription when it kicks in. Just running a tiny design & strategy subscription service. We can only take on a few clients each month!

If anyone can help us out here. Thank you!

Hi Addie 👋 Thanks for posting!

Assuming you don't have too many people trying to get in line I recommend manually handling this process.

I also recommend creating a one-time paid plan to act as the reservation fee. Folks will need to create an account, purchase the reservation fee, and you can manually add them to a list somewhere (or just use the Memberstack dashboard to track people).

Once they are a customer you can manually start their subscription at any time 🎉 This article explains how.  And we're happy to help if you're unsure of anything. The Stripe UI can be a bit overwhelming at times.

Let me know what you think! I'll go back to the drawing board if I missed anything.

And we do have a Calendly integration which might be helpful for you.

Hi all, quick question. Can a customer pay for a subscription before creating an account?

    Hi, no.

In order to access checkout, the user must be logged in/signed up.
