[Shipped] How to implement passwordless signup with passwordless login or OTP in Memberstack?

Implemented

1) The problem → Having a password field adds extra steps and more friction to the signup process.

2) Why is this important → People easily create accounts by creating passwords later.

3) Possible solutions we could build for you → Allow somebody to create an account, basically passwordless signup.

Hi everyone 👋 Today we are officially releasing passwordless login & signup! This feature enables your members to access your website with a passwordless login instead of a password.
- The passwordless login email is fully editable in the dashboard. Just like the password reset email.
- We have new attributes that allow you to implement passwordless with your own custom forms.
- On the Auth Providers settings page, you can enable passwordless for the prebuilt login/signup modal.
- you can even set it as the default!
Here’s a tutorial, and here you'll find 4 new components that you can copy and paste. Please let us know if you have any questions!

One important argument to introduce this feature: it significantly lowers the barier for people migrating from existing solutions to Memberstack. (no need to reset members passwords etc).

Passwordless login for existing users would also be very useful and may not require the same effort as password-less signup links.

The supplied components seem to break email submissions to mailchimp. On the signup form, is there a way to send emails to mailchimp simultaneously when the user clicks "get confirmation code"?

I recommend sending the email to Mailchimp using the member.created webhook or the member-created triggers in Make or Zapier. Hope this helps!

Hey Duncan,

The issue with that is the user has to confirm their account (with the password) for the webhook to trigger which means we’re going to be collecting less leads. Is there a way to have that webhook trigger (or create another webhook) that triggers when the code is requested?

Ahhh excellent point. Let me share this with the team and get back to you.

If this is a major concern for you right now, I recommend making the password form primary for signup and then passwordless primary for login.
