How can I commercially use and modify the Webflow Business Directory template under its CC BY-NC-ND license?
Hello everyone, I am interested in the Business Direchttps://webflow.com/@memberstack tory template. I am reviewing your copyright policy on this template in Webflow. It says the following.
"Directory Template by Memberstack is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. All Rights Reserved. In other words, it's someone else's work so you can't copy it or edit it for any reason, but you can share it with others."
Source: "Copyright info" on https://webflow.com/made-in-webflow/website/business-directorium?ref=made-in-webflow-search&searchValue=business%20directory
Does this mean I cannot buy-edit-use it for my business?
Can you please specify the following?
- Commercial Use and Client Sites
- The template is clearly marketed for commercial use, right? If the answer is yes, what does the copyright policy that I found from Webflow mean?
- Attribution / Copyright Notice
- Are you required to leave Memberstack’s copyright notice somewhere visible? Or to credit the template in site footers or documentation?
- Modification Rights / Derived Works
- How far can I modify it? While for most templates you can change styling, content, layout, it’s good to know whether large scale alterations are allowed + what counts as “derivative work” under this license.
- Support / Updates Terms
- What’s the duration of included support? If there are updates or bug fixes, how long will those be provided?
I would appreciate your answer.

Hey Hyun Young Lee,
I have seen customers and have personally worked with clients using premium templates and yes, we can purchase the templates, the team will send the template to our account, we can then edit it, customize it and use it for businesses without any restriction.
So, ideally you have nothing to worry about if you buy the Business directory template using the purchase option that you prefer.
My understanding of the copyright info placed in the Webflow marketplace is that, we can't distribute it / copy it without purchasing the template in the first place.
But since I don't have in-depth knowledge on the copyright licenses, we can double-check if the team means something else with the copyright info placed in webflow's marketplace.
cc: Julian Galluzzo, Duncan Hamra any ideas?
Thank you. I’ll go ahead with the purchase once these points are clarified.
Yeah Webflow doesn't give us a way to remove that copyright notice. You can ignore it. But thanks for checking!
