How to add social media links and credential uploads to applicant onboarding when portfolio page isn't working? Answered
Hey everyone,
So I'm working on our applicant onboarding system and honestly, I'm getting a bit frustrated with how things are going right now. The portfolio page we have set up just isn't working properly - I can't tell if it's a Facebook connection issue or what, but it's definitely not doing what we need it to do.
I've been thinking about this and I want to pivot to something that might actually work better. What if instead of trying to fix this broken portfolio thing, we let applicants just link their social media accounts? Like their Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn - you know, the stuff they're already using and maintaining. Seems way more practical than forcing them through some clunky upload process that half works.
The other thing that's been on my mind is document uploads. For trucking companies especially, being able to have applicants upload their medical cards and other credentials right during onboarding would save everyone so much time. Obviously we'd need to make sure only legitimate companies can access that sensitive stuff, but I think it's totally doable from a security standpoint.
I'm actually pretty close to getting this whole thing ready to launch, which feels good after all the headaches.
Oh, and one random question while I'm here - does anyone know about TalkJS and their trial? Can people actually use the chat features during the trial period, or do you have to upgrade to a paid plan to get the real functionality? Their documentation isn't super clear on this.
Thanks for any insights you might have. This project has been consuming my brain lately and I could use some fresh perspectives.RetryClaude can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.

Embedding social sites gets super complicated and is often not possible 😞 there are things websites can do to prevent others from loading anything inside an iframe. That might be why you're having trouble.
Check this out - I think it's what you're looking for. If not, we have a few other similar tutorials that might do what you need https://www.memberstack.com/scripts/file-upload-field

I think you need to upgrade TalkJS before going live. Btw - If TalkJS is too expensive you can also use MemberChat https://www.memberchat.app/
You could also simplify and have people provide their contact info like an email address or calendar link so you're not having to manage the chat feature yourself (at first)
