How to stop spammers from bypassing Memberstack and submitting comments directly through Webflow? Answered
I’ve reported this in the “bugs” thread, but curious any one else is experience similar issues:
We are using Memberstacks comment system on multiple member pages, but I have a .ru spammer hitting us with advertising for drycleaning service on a multiple x per day basis. they are somehow able to access the new comment form, but are bypassing memberstack and submitting the form through webflow. It’s more of a nuisance that a real problem, but i’m not sure how to eliminate the problem without breaking the comment system.
Any thoughts?

Hey Matt Hoag, I was going through the preview site you shared in a different thread and I was not able to access the page you mentioned as a logged out user, which is accurate for your use-case.
Are you saying that the spam submission is done via a logged out user?
Or are the submissions from logged in users, who are bypassing the memberstack commenting and pushing it as a normal webflow form submission?
correct. there is no record of a user that matches the comments and comments are being pushed as if they are a webflow form submission.
Okay and you are sure the commenting component is no where else on the site (except for the pages which are gated in the memberstack settings) 🤔
You could have a hidden field inside the form which populates the logged in member ID just in case to double-check if this is done by a logged in user.
I was not able to replicate such behavior (i.e was not able to access the gated page of your site from my end), so I am not sure where the issue lies exactly.
That being said, have you had the chance of submitting a support ticket here with all the information that you can provide? It probably will help the team to take a closer look as to what's happening.
