How to prevent verification and welcome emails from going to spam folders with low member response rates?

Hello! 🦜Has anyone had issues with verification and/or hello/welcome emails going to people's spam folders? I'm not sure if this is a real problem or not, but only around 50% of my client's members have verified thru email. I ran the emails thru a couple of spam checkers, and they seemed fine. Although I'm not sure how accurate the test is because I can't send the emails from the same sender.

Feature requests?

  • would be awesome to be able to send a test email to any email address from the various Emails within the Global Settings
  • It would also be totally radical to be able to insert member data into those emails: i.e. "Welcome [Name]!"

You guys rock, happy hump day!

    Hi T.J.

    Happy Wednesday!

Let me bring you some clarity as to why you might be experiencing the spam email issue. The probability of emails getting to the spam folder depends on the inbox client provider (gmail, yahoo mail, outlook, etc) and also on your domain.

For example, if your domain was marked as spam by many people of Yahoo, then Yahoo will consider it as spam. But you might have better luck with Gmail because you have better open rate and whatever metric that provider consider is good. If your users start unspaming they should start getting the emails in their inbox 🤔

Also there if your domain is new, you might don't have "enough"metrics to be considered a wanted sender... At the end it depends on the situation and a little bit of luck. But Memberstack doesn't get a say in what folders your email gets sent to. You might get an idea on how your domain is doing if you are not blacklisted in some common spam email lists that email providers use to automatically block mails.

About the feature requests I don't have a say in that, that's Duncan's terrain, but remember that you can always provide your idea in Memberstack Wishlist and also replying to the announcements channel where they sometimes open discussions for new feature feedback 😄

Thanks Raquel Lopez! The domain and their simple website is only a couple of weeks old, I'm sure that has something to do with it. Appreciate it!

Here are steps you can take to improve email deliverability and ensure that verification and welcome emails reach your members' inboxes:

    1. If you want Memberstack to send emails using your email/domain, you should complete the email verification process. This involves setting up SPF and DKIM records, which help to authenticate your emails and improve deliverability. You can start this process by following this article.
    2. Ensure that the content of your emails does not trigger spam filters. Avoid using excessive links, spammy words, or all caps, and make sure the emails provide value to the recipient.
    3. Ask your members to add your email address to their contacts or whitelist it. This can often help emails to bypass spam filters.
    4. Users have the option to resend verification email from their end whenever they sign in to the site / when they try to access gated content. And you have the option to manually mark the member as verified from your end, by selecting the member --> Actions --> Verify Email and memberstack will mark the user as verified if needed.
