CMS Gating Not Working

Hi, I'm trying to build an online course where the first few collections of the CMS are ungated (available for free and paid users) while the rest are. I've got my two plans set up in Memberstack and have gated content on pages; however, am struggling to gate specific pages based on how the tutorial videos are showing. I've added (every variation of) the slug into the Upsell Content (i.e. the Free plan) which to my understanding should gate those pages. However, when students access the course, which they do by going to a static page, which then links them directly to the slug of a CMS page (e.g. /course/welcome). However, when I test the website out online, it seems as if anyone can click on the navbar and access any of the pages (i.e. gating pages is not working).
