How to auto-enable Google authentication for users created via Zapier-Shopify-Memberstack integration? Answered
Hey guys, so I am using Zapier to sign up new customers automatically in Memberstack when someone buys our digital product from our Shopify store. the complaint we are getting is that Google auth isn't working when a new user comes to our website. I looked it up and it seems Membertsack doesn't automatically link a new user's google auth. Is there a way to do that?

Hi Waqar,
Memberstack does not automatically link a new user's Google authentication when they are signed up through an external system like Shopify. However, you can use Zapier to automate the signup process in Memberstack when someone purchases your digital product.
To address the issue with Google authentication, you might need to set up a process where after the user is created in Memberstack via Zapier, they are prompted to link their Google account manually on their first login. This could be done by guiding them to a page where they can link their Google account to their Memberstack profile.
However, if you can send the link to your website and a Loom video walking me through your setup, that could be helpful for me to have a clearer picture and possibly make a better recommendation.
Got it, I'll make a video later today but why is it not possible automatically though? Whenever I have made an account anywhere it automatically allows me to use my Google account to login as well so why not Memberstack?
If your website has the Memberstack install script, users can sign up/login with Google Auth on it seamlessly
I mean if they sign up with their Gmail email then shouldn't it be possible for them to automatically login with Google without needing to manually link the Google account?
Ohh...I get your point now. If they sign up with a Gmail address and password, they can't automatically login with Google Auth. They'd have to use the same Gmail and password to login.
However, if they signed up with Google Auth, they can log in automatically with it.
But why is it though?
Ideally, for security and privacy reasons, authentication systems require explicit permission from the user to access their information. This means that a user must explicitly link their Google account to their Memberstack account to allow for Google authentication.
