Newbie Questions Answered

Hi All, newbie question here. Watching the tutorial videos they give the impression when a user signs up they need to be assigned automatically to a plan.

The workflow I would like to have is:

  1. User creates account
  2. Redirect to pricing page where they can choose the appropriate plan
  3. Direct to gated content such as a dashboard based on step 2

Is that possible?

Thanks HO Chris is there any material showing the steps to do this - all the official videos show assign to plan as the first step?

I don't know if I can put external link here, but I give you the keyword you can search for the youtube resources. (The FASTEST Way To Build A PAID Membership Site)

Thanks. I watched the video and the flow he uses also seems to follow that a user is initially assigned to a plan when hitting the sign up button

Just remove the attribute adding the plan and redirect to pricing page ๐Ÿ‘

    Hey Graham!

Peter and Michel are correct (thank you both!)- you can totally have your members signup without a plan and then have them pick a plan afterwards on a pricing page ๐Ÿ™‚

For the redirect, you can either place the redirect directly on your signup form (via redirect attribute), or set your default signup redirect (in MS dashboard) to your pricing page.

Hi All, wondering if this is possible. If a user has access to my gated content i.e. dashboard I would ideally like them to not be able to use certain pieces of functionality based on their plan.

Use case for example is I would have a card showing specific functionality and make it either available or something like the below presented based on the subscribed plan.

Hey Graham Ferguson, yes this is very much possible.

You can make use of data-ms-content attribute for this, in order to hide a content and also show an upsell element.

In case you want it more customized and your use-case is much granular in nature, then you can also make use of CMS relations and control the visibility of the sections which you want to hide and upgrade section based on the logged in user's plan.

Thanks A J Is there any documentation showing all the attribute options and info on CMS relations?

Graham Ferguson I believe this could be a good source to start off with to implement the attribute.

    https://docs.memberstack.com/hc/en-us/articles/7403036765339-Show-and-Hide-Individual-Elements-data-ms-content

However, as of CMS relations, it depends on the database tool you are using and how things are setup structurally, to further explore how to leverage that for your use-case.

Hey there, I'm making the move from WordPress and trying to get the hang of this new learning curve.

I'm curious about why I should use the built-in CMS for user fields when I can use Memberstack, which lets me show dynamic content. But here's the thing: I also need to show a list of specific user groups, kind of like a contact list. Can I do this with Memberstack, or do I need to set up a CMS called 'users' for this?

    Thanks,
    Christian

To show users to everyone, you will need the cms/some other database! Memberstack does show dynamic content but only to the signed in user

Sounds good. Lastly, what do you recommend for creating, adding, or updating the CMS through Webflow during signup and the various onboarding screens?

Hey everyone, I have a quick question regarding the Premium Job Board, I can see there are two prices one "If you have an active Memberstack plan" and one "If you don't have an active Memberstack Application." What dose having an active plan mean and is it any different for a Memberstack application? dose it mean that you have a paid plan (ex. Basic plan) or it's something else ?

    Thanks ! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

i am about to subscribe as we're going live this week and i just want to confirm that if we are on the basic plan and we exceed 1000 members does it automatically bump us to the next plan? I don't want to lose any members signing up if we are on the cusp. thank you!

Hi everyone, I just came across Memberstack as I was looking for no-code platforms to build my SaaS business. Thought I'd ask you guys, would it be possible to build a SaaS Web App platform with Memberstack? I'm looking to create a SaaS platform aimed at agencies where they can log in and access features such as a Dashboard, Proposal templates, Invoices, Task Management and Project Management tools, etc. I was looking at no-code tools such as Bubble and WeWeb, but I like the templates Memberstack has to offer. Many thanks!

Hi Kamal ๐Ÿ‘‹ We have several customers who have been able to accomplish this. And we're working on some updated templates that could help. Please note that Memberstack will help you with your plans, gated content, and storing member data without code. But you'll need to use the Webflow CMS, Code, and other integrations to build everything on your list.

I want to make a webflow page, with articles. 30% of the articles are flagged as "member only". So you can see them in the list, but if you click you have to log in.
So the CMS item is visible in the overview. But the detail page is then blocked. Can I do this with memberstack, and can it be managed in webflow or what would that look like?

And can I shield download links/ assets?

    Yes, Yes, and Yes.

You would be using the Gated Content functionality for both hiding members-only content and shielding downloadable links/assets.
You can set up a toggle switch in webflow's collection list parameters to denote "members-only" content if you want to keep all the articles together OR you can use separate collection lists and deploy Finsweet's combine collections functionality to show both free and paid articles in 1 list.

As far as ensuring the right content is seen by the right account type, there are a few ways to do that, detailed on the Gated Content link from above.

If you have a single collection list, you'll be able to manipulate who views the content by adding a word at the beginning of the slug. You have to remember to do this everytime you create a collection item though so if your process is prone to errors, I'd try the other method of combining separate lists. You could automate that in Zapier or Make of course. OTHERWISE, if you don't want to update the slug each time, you can actually just wrap the collection page's content in a div that has the gated content id attributes. And then use the reverse attributes to show an upgrade popup or something to that affect.

If you opted to use separate collection lists, you can hide the entire collection list's dynamic pages (by setting up the collection list's slug as the Restricted URL) then adding an Access Denied URL to get people to sign up to view that content. This would be the least prone to human error.

Hope I explained that well :)
