How to build an email preference center that integrates with MS without requiring login and manages subscriptions across MailChimp & SendGrid? Answered

Hi everyone!
I am looking for some help, specifically around managing Email preferences for users ✉️
We’re looking for a Preference Center solution that we can connect with MS (but that doesn’t require logging in)
This solution should allow us to manage subscriptions to newsletters (and any other types of emails we want to send them) from MailChimp, SendGrid, and others

Here is an example of a flow like this in Make.com:

  • User signs up to a newsletter > Adds Custom Field value in MS > Adds member to a list in MailChimp > Member receives an email from MailChimp and wants to unsubscribe from that newsletter > Preference center page (unknown) > Removes member from list in MailChimp > Removes value in Custom field in MS
  • User signs up for a new account > Adds Marketing Emails to custom field in MS > We send them an email using SendGrid > User clicks to unsubscribe > Preference center page (unknown) > Removes value in Custom field in MS

So there are multiple different scenarios and email tools for various purposes, but there is no way to easily manage that now. We also need to respect Canadian laws for email marketing that means we can’t force them to login to modify their preferences (they have to be able to do it with 1 click), so we can’t redirect them behind a login wall to modify it in their MS account.

I was not able to find “Preference center” softwares that do this as a soul purpose, but maybe I didn’t look hard enough…

It seems like the easiest and most cost-effective solution would be using an ESP that gives us everything on the same platform. Looking at OneSignal specifically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
Not sure if I’m the only with this problem.

Out of interest, why not manage it all in Mailchimp? I am in a similar position and decided to keep it all in MailerLite.

    Decided in in the interim

MailChimp doesn’t do SMS and Push Notifications, so my options are really limited and it adds complexity.

I would have to create a custom Preference Center notification system that includes OS, MC, etc.

The issue happens with transactional emails too, where we don’t want people to have the ability to unsubscribe from transaction emails since we’re launching a product that will have both newsletters and transaction account info.

OS seems to solve part of that, from what I gather now. It seems to also allow us to create journeys where we can sequence SMS, email & push, etc.

    Hello Chuck 👋
I’m not sure I have much to add. But I think you might need a passwordless workaround if you did want to try this out and have the user unsubscribe without signing up ----> https://support.memberstack.com/hc/en-us/articles/4410447141403-Passwordless-Signup-Workaround-

I saw that Jayess but not a big fan of it as we have over 200K contacts for our newsletter. We need a system that lives outside of MS for newsletters specifically, but appreciate the suggestion!
