How to sync Memberstack member data with Webflow CMS using Zapier when CMS item IDs aren't automatically stored? Answered

I have a membership site using Memberstack + Zapier + Webflow. I'm unsure how to create a workflow for the two common scenarios:

  1. New member signs up for a plan, then a Webflow CMS item will be created (doesn't need to be published immediately) with content from the custom fields
  2. Member updates their information, pushed to Memberstack then needs to be updated in Webflow CMS

I run into an issue where Zapier can't complete the workflow (going from Zapier to Webflow). Any guidance or general steps I should take?

    Hey Brandon 👋

There are a few things that could be going wrong... would you mind sharing some screenshots or maybe a video of your setup? That will help me trouble shoot more effectively.

Duncan from Memberstack I am having the same issue. Specifically, webflow requires that I list the webflow CMS item # in order to update the webflow CMS item when memberstack is updated. How do I store the webflow CMS item as a custom field in my memberstack for the member upon creation of the new cms item?

Hey Ben 👋 I think this video will help.

In this video I used Make.com to update a Webflow CMS item with its ID. You could do the same steps, but instead of updating the CMS item you would update a member's custom field.
