1) The problem → I referred MS to a bunch of people, and every single one of them had the same reason not to go ahead with it - the payment gateway. In India, a vast majority of people have moved past credit/debit cards and use something called UPI (United Payments Interface). They make payments via their phone number. And Stripe in India doesn’t support UPI, so there is the likelihood of huge drop-off at the PoS. We’re facing the same issue too in fact, and wondering how we can get around it.
2) Why is this important → In India, a vast majority of people have moved past credit/debit cards.
3) What's your plan B → Currently researching
4) Possible solutions we could build for you →
a) The solution for you guys is rather simple, there’s a payment gateway called Razorpay (https://razorpay.com) that can be used instead of Stripe and they support all sorts of payment (Net Banking, UPI, Credit, Debit, etc.) So if Indian customers could link to Razorpay just as they might link with Stripe, it would be amazing.
b) Alternatively, Google Pay (one method of UPI payment) is supported by Stripe as well. Maybe you can just figure out how to integrate that into MS checkout - might be easier.

We're looking into adding more payment gateways, but it's rather complex. Would you be able to build your own integration via their API? Or would you need Memberstack to provide that for you?

"The major issue here is, only 3% of Indians possess credit cards. And recurring subscriptions on any online service just don’t accept anything other than credit cards here. That is why UPI, and subsequently UPI autopay is such a big deal in India."

Integrating RazorPay natively will be a game changer for all India based businesses. Is there a plan in this direction ?

Hey Duncan, nothing like it if it is natively integrated with Memberstack.

Stripe is not working anymore in India, there is invite only mode, - https://support.stripe.com/questions/moving-to-invite-only-in-india#:~:text=Starting%20in%20May%202024%2C%20Stripe,need%20to%20request%20an%20invite.

How to enable stripe or other payment gateway like razorpay?

I'm afraid we don't have any other solutions at this time. 😞 Our best recommendation is to apply for an invitation with Stripe. I wish there was more we could do, but the difficulty of integrating another payment gateway is too much for our team at this time.

Possible with razorpay with make or zapier with all functionality? If yes, please publish a detailed guide how to do this. And a request to enable other payment gateways to counter the problem.
