[Wishlist] Integration: Notion Not planned

[This post was migrated from our old community roadmap]

1) The problem → Part of my content offered in the membership is in a Notion page.
2) Why is this important → Without a way to gate this page, anyone could access it.
3) What's your plan B → Use something like Super.so in conjunction? Or integrate Memberstack with Super.so via Zapier? (is that possible?)
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → Replace Super.so or build an integration with them so members can access Notion pages.

We do not have plans to support this feature in the immediate future.

For more context, the limitation is that I can only use Memberstack on one site. If I was able to gate content on multiple URLs (e.g. swipefiles.co AND brain.swipefiles.co) this could be easily done in conjunction with Super.so

Got it! I think I'll break this out into a separate feature request and loop in Tyler. I know we've talked about this before, and I think there are a few (security) limitations when it comes to jumping domains. That said, I bet there's still a solution here depending on your use case.

One last Q - why did you decide to put some of your content in notion vs on your website? Also, do you know if it's possible to embed a notion page in an iframe? That wouldn't be "secure" but I imagine most people wouldn't think to check.

That’d be awesome! Subdomains or multiple sites would open up a world of possibility.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible to embed in an iframe. I had the same thought. Maybe that’ll change once their API is out but I’m not sure. The content I’m putting there is simply too much for Webflow. I need something a bit more flexible and that I can easily maintain.

Corey Haines I think Notion has implemented a same-origin restriction, thus prohibiting iFrames on any other domain. So, not possible to embed it at this moment.

Found firebase implementation on Github - https://github.com/shariq/notion-on-firebase

Duncan Hamra One workaround may be possible if we can share member base to multiple sites. That way we can use the same logins as the main domain and gate the subdomain by redirects.

I was using the notion for content sharing in a private slack group. Now, I am expanding it and building a webflow site. I, eventually, want to bring all the content on the new site but that will take some time, till then I want to gate it for the paid members.

Currently, due to the unavailability of an official Notion API, I can't really manage the access to that page.

Amazing! Thanks for explaining. Does this new post address your comment "...can share member base to multiple sites." https://future.memberstack.com/problems/p/i-can-only-use-memberstack-on-one-website-domain

Are you imagining you'd have several websites and a single Memberstack database or multiple Memberstack databases?

Hey! yes that post exactly address my comment.

multiple site with single MS database. Primarily, allowing member to different websites with single credentials.

    Noted! Thank you, Corey 🙏

I'm going to keep this "Open," but there's a decent chance this is something we may never do. Our goal is to help more people take advantage of the very best tools and platforms for building web apps, membership sites, etc. I could see Notion being a great marketing site for an app or community, but we'll need to keep an eye on demand.

Caveat: we may build a generic website integration that could work on any website, but that's not our primary focus for the foreseeable future.

Totally understand. There's a huge ground swell for Notion so I can see a lot of demand for this, but I don't have specifics.

A generic website integration and/or ability to add multiple sites would suffice. The main blocker is that I'd need a separate Memberstack accounts for each site, which defeats the purpose of having the login system.

FWIW Notion is opening up access to their API early 2021: https://twitter.com/NotionHQ/status/1336375721757851649?s=20

    Integrating with Notion / Super

Hey guys! I seem to be getting close to properly integrating Memberstack with Notion via Super. There's only a way to add full URLs as hyperlinks in Notion.

For some reason the Login link works fine, but the Signup link isn't. Let me know if you guys know why!

So fun stuff, I actually just got a intercom support with Traf <---from twitter who was able to use the login modal in Notion, but not the sign up modal. Not sure what happened there. 🤔

Hi. I want to let you know that I have successfully integrated Memberstack (free membership) with Notion using Potion (https://www.potion.so). Both login and logout are working. Java script is loaded on each page.

tyler - If we did this now, would it carry over into V2?

Josh- Do you see any reason why that signup link might not be working?

Hey James! I'll tag the team on Monday 👍 I can't see why that signup link isn't working 🤔 Support for full length (and universally valid) URLs is on our to-do list. It might have to wait till 2.0 though.
