Stripe provides a number of automated recovery features, such as sending emails (Stripe Docs) when a failed payment occurs and retrying payments (Stripe Docs) at strategic times. This helps collect payments that might’ve been unsuccessful.
When a payment fails, Stripe tries to collect it according to the rules defined under Manage failed payments in your Subscriptions and emails settings (Stripe Dashboard). Stripe doesn’t retry collecting payment:
  • If the payment method is unavailable.
  • If you’re customer is using bank debit methods.
  • If the connected account is no longer attached (Connect only).
